Frequently Asked Questions

About Turkish Coffee

What makes Turkish coffee different from regular coffee?

Turkish coffee is the original brewing method — predating drip, espresso, and pour-over by hundreds of years. It uses extra-fine grounds brewed slowly over low heat in a special pot called a cezve. The result is a rich, unfiltered, full-bodied cup with a signature foam called köpük. The grounds settle at the bottom of the cup, leaving you with deep flavor and a unique drinking experience.

Do I need special equipment to make Turkish coffee?

A cezve pot (also called an ibrik or briki) makes a real difference. Its narrow neck and wide base are designed specifically to build pressure and create the foam Turkish coffee is known for. Small Turkish coffee cups (about 2–3oz) are also traditional. You can technically use any small saucepan, but the cezve is part of the experience.

How do I brew Turkish coffee?
  1. Add 2 heaping teaspoons of Cezve to your cezve pot.
  2. Add one small cup of cold water (about 60ml).
  3. Stir gently to mix.
  4. Heat slowly over low flame.
  5. Watch carefully as foam rises.
  6. Pour into your cup just before it boils.
  7. Let grounds settle for 30 seconds before drinking.
  8. Sip slowly, leave the grounds at the bottom.
Should I add sugar?

Traditional Turkish coffee is served at four sweetness levels: sade (plain), az şekerli (slightly sweet), orta (medium sweet), and çok şekerli (very sweet). Add sugar to the cezve before brewing, not after — it changes the foam.

About Our Coffee

Where is Cezve roasted?

Right here in Virginia. Every batch of Cezve is roasted, ground, and packed in Manassas. Not imported, not warehoused for months, not mass-produced.

How fresh is your coffee when it ships?

Every tin is roasted in small batches and lot-coded with the production date. We typically ship within days of roasting. From our facility to your kitchen — fresh, every time.

What kind of beans do you use?

100% Arabica. We source for cup quality, not commodity price.

How long does Turkish coffee stay fresh after opening?

Stored in the resealable tin in a cool, dry place, your Cezve tin will stay fresh for 4–6 weeks after opening. The tin protects against light, air, and moisture — the three things that degrade coffee fastest.
